Nicola and the Viscount Meg Cabot Books

This was a really fun, cute, sweet regency romance. A really quick read when you want something fun and light to read. This story is about Nicola who is orphaned yet has some means in which to survive, her father did not leave her completely destitute. She does somewhat rely on friends to take her in, so she can go to all the amazing social outings that they had back in the day. Her best friend Eleanor and family are wonderful and take good care of her. Both girls have a crush on the God (yes they refer to him as this,P please rolled my eyes.) Nicola is naive, and after one thing because of her station, a man well not any man the God to be exact. She is not a very deep person, very in the moment, proper, shallow, but she does get a little better, and the story is still a good story. Eleanor, is a little more grounded but not much, they are both just silly girls and typical for the time period. The god is gorgeous, and a little to agreeable in my opinion, but for good reason. The characters and the story are both written really well and were fun to read. There is a mystery that Nicola is trying to figure out as well, someone is trying to take something from her that she holds dear. Plus an added surprise that I will not say anything about. Fun and Cute!

Nicola and the Viscount Meg Cabot Books Reviews

It was romantic and adventurous which are my two favourite genres. I love how Nicola had to go through that love triangle
Excellent book. Enjoyed reading it immensely. Of course, the only reason I even ordered this book because I am seriously addicted to the Princess Diaries series and wanted to know how Meg could pull off other genres. Well, she did it with grace, elegance and flowery language.
Cute book!!!
This book can't hold a candle to the other Avons. Those books are full of passion, romance, adventure, and great heroines and heroes. This was a catty, historically inaccurate story with just about the most annoying protagonist on the history of the planet. Lets explain

The Protagonist Ohhh...poor old Nicola Sparks. An orphan who manages to live a luxurious lifestyle. She is, for lack of a better word, (sorry for language) a bitch. She is catty and really annoying. Everyone is so jealous of her total perfection. She is a master seamstress, and EVERYONE is dying to wear her clothing. She has perfect skin, and perfect hair. She also, manages to be great a stealing things and spying on people. She gives everyone good tongue lashings, and just seems to speak better than everyone. She is extremely ladylike yet manages to be still somewhat of a tomboy, and in short, is just prettier, braver, smarter, a better sewer than anyone else.

The style The book is a typical Meg Cabot. The protagonists are catty little control freaks and their friends are just all so in awe of them. She is obsessed with poetry and always expects men to declare their undying devotion to her. The book seems like it was written now, but with historical type words in it and details such as dresses to make it more period.
Yet, it manages to completely butcher the era and make it sound like a frilly, prudish sort of time period where Nicola is the only one who manages to have any modern ideals. From first words, it seems fairly period. The dialogue is alright, the prose could be worse. Then, as you read more into it, it seems to get worse. Nicola, in completely public places, kisses, right in front of everyone, 2, count e'm, 2 boys in the entirety of the novel. Almacks seems like a modern dance club, just with ladies with frilly dresses floating around and everyone saying the word "shall".

This is an utter failure of a book that made me want to just kill the characters as I read more into it. Don't read it or the other Avon by Meg Cabot. She can't write historical.
You want some good Regency Avon True Romance? Go pick up Anna and the Duke. That book is great.
I bought this for a gift for a 13 year old girl and she was thrilled. She loves this author so I bought her numerous books from Meg Cabot. It made her Christmas. She loves to read and I gave her plenty of reading material to last her... for about a week. ) She doesn't put the books down until she's done reading them.
This is just a fun read, by am author who knows how to amuse. This is not Charlotte Bronte...doesn't claim to be. I love to be able to read a novel for fun and not have my values mocked. While this one is edgy and sexy, it never crosses any lines. This book is what it claims to be, and I intend to read all her books, under several of her pen names...they are already downloaded.
Definitely one of my favorites in the Avon True Romance series. I've re-read it about 3 times now and wanted to make sure I had a kindle version for my travels or just when I want to read something light-hearted and enjoyable.
